RESEARCH
Clients across the globe

Culturissima's expertise ranges far beyond writing, TRANSLATION and editing, for our London office also operates a rapidly expanding research service.

Writing and research go hand-in-hand: to write convincingly is to write knowledgeably.

All Culturissima's writers, editors and translators have a background in research: not just in the arts, archaeology and history but also in several of the sciences, including, for example, psychology.

We have been commissioned to research on topics as diverse as the life of Chopin, Roman satire, the FIFA World Cup, illegal immigration, Freud, Florence Nightingale, and Danish lighting and design.

Culturissima is particularly strong in the field of cultural tourism, where we operate our own research consultancy (see opposite).

Cultural Tourism
Clients across the globe

For eighteen years Culturissima has been researching and devising (and sometimes even leading) cultural and historical tours across all four continents.

Sometimes a tour operator might approach us with a very specific brief: research, design and write up a six day itinerary on the life and times of Renoir in Paris (see below).

Alternatively, a client might ask us to use our imagination and our knowledge of a country to devise a tour from scratch - as was the case with a tour we devised entitled Painting in Andalusia.

Culturissima's research has also taken us much further afield: we devised one of the first tours to venture into the depths of Libya - and we were commissioned to undertake an equally exciting adventure in 2008: to devise the first cultural tour to(see opposite).

Culturissima in Algeria

Culturissima has recently returned from a reconnaissance trip to the north African country of Algeria on behalf of a major British tour operator.

Our client's brief was all embracing (as is often the case): to research and design, then to publish and advertise, a circuit of Algeria's Roman antiquities.

Algeria, little known in the English-speaking world and seldom visited, represented a particular challenge owing to the complete lack of tourist infrastructure and business know-how.

In spite of these difficulties, our client was determined that Culturissima should put together an enticing programme so that they could be the first British travel company to offer tours to one of Africa's most fascinating countries.

You can read how Culturissima got on here.

New England

"Something in New England, something at Christmas, something festive, something cultural" - armed with this brief we researched and wrote up Shaker Mill at Christmas, a nine-day tour embracing New England's cornucopia of art, architecture and literature.

Paris

In 2008 Culturissima was approached by a British travel agency to devise a six-day tour of the French capital and its environs based on the lives of the great Impressionists. This is the programme that we designed and that continues to be a sell-out success.

Malta

Culturissima first visited Malta in 2003 and soon afterwards put together a programme combining the country's pre-history, its natural history and its beguiling art and architecture. Seven years later our revitalised itinerary is still going strong!

Libya

One of Culturissima's most exciting ever commissions, undertaken over decade ago, was to introduce British travellers not just to Libya's exceptional Roman monuments but also to open up its interior - the Sahara with its towering dunes and superlative rock art.
